Cape Brett Walkway

 

Cape Brett Walkway is located in the beautiful Bay of Islands. You can get there either by driving or flying from Auckland.

If you are driving from Auckland you need to get on the main motorway North. This will take you to Whangarei two hours north of Auckland. It is then about an hours comfortable drive to Paihia in the Bay of Islands.

Once in Paihia follow directions to catch the ferry to Russell and then onto Cape Brett.

If you are flying you will fly from Auckland to Kerikeri, Bay of Island go to www.airnz.co.nz for flight information. You can then go by either taxi or rental car to Cape Brett.

Cape Brett Walkways Ltd provide access to the walking tracks on Department of Conservation and Maori Trust land.

The walk starts at Te Rawhiti (Bay of Islands)and takes you over the seven peaks through native bush with scenic beauty and spectacular ocean and island views to the Cape Brett lighthouse and Department of Conservation (DOC) hut.

Our experienced guides share with you their knowledge and appreciation of nature, Maori history and culture.

The Cape Brett walk is well maintained and suitable for most people. The walk from Rawhiti to the Cape Brett Lighthouse is 16km.

The track is open year round.A reasonable level of fitness is required.

Make sure you bring: hat, sunscreen, water, warm top, wind jacket, swimsuit, towel, hiking boots and your own lunch.
